Abraham Adam Josef (Abie) van Niekerk was an Afrikaans writer of short stories and tales from the north-west of South Africa. Born in 1931 on the farm Koebees in Boesmanland near Springbok, he studied Afrikaans-Dutch and History at Stellenbosch and drew on Namaqualand, the Sandveld, Bushmanland and the Richtersveld for his stories. Kelkiewyn en Koggelaar (Tafelberg, 1969), listed here, is a collection of them, and he also wrote for children, for example Boetie van Boesmanland.

Van Niekerk died on 19 April 1994.
