Ian Greig was a British writer and political activist born in London in 1924. Commissioned into a cavalry regiment at eighteen, he served in the Netherlands after D-Day, then worked as a Conservative constituency agent, journalist and broadcaster, and in 1961 helped found the Monday Club. His books, mostly on Cold War subversion and decolonisation, include The Assault on the West (1968), Subversion (1973) and They Mean What They Say (1981). The Communist Challenge to Africa, published in 1977, examines Soviet, Chinese and Cuban involvement on the continent from that standpoint, and is the volume offered here.
