Robin Cook

Robin Cook, born in 1940, is an American physician and novelist and one of the best-known names in the medical thriller. He trained in ophthalmology at Harvard and served as an aquanaut in the US Navy's SEALAB programme before turning to fiction. His novels, among them Coma (1977), Outbreak (1987) and Blindsight (1992), set ordinary hospitals and laboratories against ethical and criminal danger. Mortal Fear, Vector, Intervention and Mind Bend are among his titles listed here.

He is still publishing: his most recent novel, Spasm, appeared in 2025.
